<How To
Stop Playing Resume Roulette>
Today, an average
of 250 resumes or applications are received for each job posted. With ultimately
only 4 to 6 people typically asked to interview for a job, simple math shows
that this is not an easy game to win. one job seeker out of 50 will be invited
to interview, and only one in 250 may receive a job offer.
Your
chance of winning with a red-or-black bet in roulette or correctly choosing the
outcome in a heads-or-tails coin flip, remains 50/50, no matter how many times
you spin the wheel or flip the coin, assuming no other variables change. Playing
resume roulette – submitting the same resume over-and-over, hoping for a
different outcome – doesn’t improve the odds either. In fact, doing the same
thing over and over again, hoping for a different result, is the classic
definition of insanity.
