Life’s lessons for your children to learn “To learn they cannot make anyone love them.  What they can do is let themselves be loved.”   “To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.”   “To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most,   but is one who needs the least.”   “To learn that it only takes a few seconds  to open profound wounds in persons we love,  and it takes many years to heal them.”

What they can do is let themselves be loved.”  다른 누구도 그들을 사랑하게 만들 수 없고, 그들이 할 수 있는 것은 그들 자신을 사랑  받게 만드는 것뿐이란 점을 깨닫는 것. “To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.”  자신을 남과 비교하는 것은 좋지 않다는 것을 깨닫는 것. “To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least.”  부자는 가장 많이 가진 사람이 아니라 가장 적게 필요로 하는 사람이란 점을 깨닫는 것. “To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in persons we love,  and it takes many years to heal them.”  사랑하는 사람의 깊은 상처를 드러내는 것은 몇 초밖에 걸리지 않지만 그것을 치유하는 데는 몇 년이  필요하다는 것을 깨닫는 것. Chan's Advice! 훌륭한 부모의 자격이 뭘까요? 앞서 소개한 교훈 중에서 단 한 가지만이라도 실천하여 가르침을 준 부모라면 훌륭한 부모라 평가하고 싶습니다. 세 가지 이상이라면 탁월한 부모라고 할 수 있겠지요. 네 가지 모두를 실천하여 교훈을 남기는 부모는 거의 없지 않을까요. 가끔 주위에서 어릴 때 부모님으로부터 배운 귀중한 가르침을 몸소 실천하며 감사해 하는 사람을 봅니다. 여러분은 사랑하는 자녀들에게 어떤 가르침을 남기시겠습니까?      - 영어등대 이찬승 드림-
